Hey, my fellow storytellers!
Here we are again—heading into the final stretch of the year. As always, this is the time when I start reflecting on what’s worked, what’s inspired me, and what I want to bring to you in the coming months. And this year, I can say with certainty: I have some big ideas in store for 2026!
This summer, I had the privilege of sharing a presentation at the WorldShift online summit, and your enthusiasm there was truly reinvigorating for me. It reminded me how much I love creating spaces where writers can come together around the deeper meaning of story—something that feels especially important right now. Story isn’t just entertainment; it’s a sacred, archetypal force that helps us remember hope, transformation, and the life-affirming power of meaning.
Looking ahead, I’m exploring two new directions for the site and podcast:
- On one side, a comprehensive legacy master course that will pull together everything I’ve ever taught about story theory—plot, character arcs, theme, outlining, and more (with the possibility of certification opportunities for editors).
- On the other, a growing focus on the spiritual and archetypal depth of storytelling, exploring story as initiation, touchstone, and sacred purpose. I believe it is more important than ever for us to focus on the embodiment of creativity and storytelling.
Both of these threads may shape the kind of content you see here, and I’d love for you to be part of that shaping!
Leave Me a Comment With Questions and Post Suggestions!
Let me ask you: What would you like me to write about next year?
- Do you have a burning question about story structure, character arcs, or theme?
- Are you hungry for deeper explorations into the sacred and transformational side of storytelling?
- Is there a place where you particularly need to feel resourced, nurtured, or nourished in your writing journey?
- What kind of content helps you most—step-by-step craft posts, audio podcasts, or video lessons?
Leave me a comment and tell me what you’d most like me to cover in 2025. Your questions and ideas are always my best inspiration, and if you phrase yours as a question, I may even be able to quote it in a future post (unless you’d specify I don’t).
A Survey About What Story Means to You
I’ve also put together a survey to explore how people interact with story. I want to know what kinds of stories move you, what tones you’re drawn to (light or dark, hopeful or challenging), and what impact you believe stories have on us individually and culturally.
Your answers will help me better understand the deeper motivations that drive our creative and emotional connection to storytelling. They’ll help shape the conversations we’ll be having here in the coming months. I would greatly appreciate it if you take a few minutes to share your experiences and thoughts with me!
Take the survey here (what you see here is Page 1 of 8, so be sure to click the Next button at the bottom!):
Thank you, as always, for your enthusiasm, your stories, and your willingness to engage in this space. It means the world to me, and I can’t wait to see what we create together next year.
Wordplayers, tell me your opinions! What writing topic or question would you like me to explore in future posts? Tell me in the comments!
